UN-Committee on the Rights of the Child
The 18-person Committee on the Rights of the Child is responsible for overseeing the Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989 and the Optional Protocol of 2000. The committee meets twice a year for three weeks, usually in Geneva. Its tasks include reviewing State Reports (the first report is due one year after entry into force of the convention and all five years thereafter). To date the committee has no authority to accept individual complaints. However, a respective procedure is currently being developed.
