Relevant duties in the context of human rights
UN Co-ordination (UNC) is the central UN co-ordination centre of the federal administration and ensures the coherence of Swiss UN policy. It looks after the secretariat of the relevant inter-departmental UN work group (IDAG UN; Head Political Affairs Division III). It serves as an information platform inside and outside the federal administration for matters relating to the UN. UNC plays a central role as the co-ordinator of election campaigns (e.g. election of Prof. Kälin to the Commission on Human Rights or Swiss candidacy for the Commission on Human Rights 2007-2009). All these tasks are performed in close collaboration with the relevant specialist units in the federal administration.
