Relevant duties in the context of human rights
The Federal Office for Gender Equality (FOGE) promotes the equality of women and men in all areas of life and is committed to eliminating any form of direct or indirect discrimination. The FOGE does not operate at the level of individual cases but aims to raise awareness of the need for structural changes, seeking cooperation with other Federal Offices, parliamentarians, men's and women's organizations, as well as with social partners and businesses. As a member of the Swiss Conference of Gender Equality Delegates (www.equality.ch/), the FOGE submits position statements on gender equality concerns and it supports, coordinates, plans and implements activities of national scope. The FOGE focuses on championing equal opportunities and equal pay at work as well as fair task sharing in the family. Amongst legal equality, factual equality is being promoted.
