Reservations
When ratifying the ICCPR, Switzerland made nine reservations, of which five were withdrawn. Four reservations are still valid.
Optional Protocols
Switzerland did not ratify the First Optional Protocol about individial communication. It did however ratify the Second Optional Protocol aiming at the abolition of the death penalty.

To this day, the Human Rights Committee examined two periodic reports prepared by Switzerland: the reports of 1996 and of 2001.
