No Child Is Illegal

About thousand children in Switzerland live without residence permits. With this, theirs basic rights are violated, living in the fear of being discovered, socially isolated, in poverty. At the occasion of the 20 November 2008, marking the International Day for the Rights of the Child, several Swiss organisations launched the campaign “No child is illegal”. To raise awareness on this point is one of the objectives of the new association “For the rights of children without legal status”.

Even clandestine children have rights!

The Swiss campaign calls for the respect of the right to education, from preschool to post-obligatory trainings. No measure of constraint should be taken against these children, demand the association, which adds that they should get facilitated regularisation of their residency. They base their demand on the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, which guarantees them with certain rights.
