Fourth and fifth periodic reports by Switzerland on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)

In autumn of 2016, Switzerland reported for the third time on its efforts to implement the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which it ratified in 1997.

The Federal Council published Switzerland’s fourth and fifth periodic reports on implementing the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on 17 December 2014 (the fourth report was due in April 2010).

List of issues

At the CEDAW Committee meeting and pre-sessional working group meetings from 7 to 11 March 2016, the working group came up with questions for Switzerland in the so-called list of issues. Switzerland tried to provide answers to these questions in its report on 14 June 2016.

Contributions from NGOs to the list of issues

Seven reports by national and international NGOs were submitted to the pre-sessional working group to be included in the list of issues. The Federal Commission for Women's Issues (FCWI) also drew up a report under the name National Human Rights Institute (NHRI).
